History of the Center for Radioisotope and Radiopharmaceuticals Technology (PTRR)

The history of the Center for Radioisotope and Radiopharmaceuticals Technology (PTRR) started by the field of radioisotope of the Bandung Atomic Reactor Center, which possesses the Triga Mark II Nuclear Reactor. By using the existing facilities of the nuclear reactor, the radioisotope section has succeeded in developing radioisotopes, the section of radiopharmaceutical has succeeded in developing labeled compounds and radiopharmaceutical kits. Then research, development and production of radioisotopes and radiopharmaceuticals were conducted by the Center for Radioisotope Production (established based on the Letter of Decision of the Dir.Gen. of BATAN No.2/XII/Dirjen-BATAN/1986 however the inauguration for the use of Building 10 and 11 in the Serpong PUSPIPTEK was newly conducted on the date 11 December 1989). The Activities of PPR – BATAN  in production of radioisotopes was very much supported by the Multi Purpose Reactor (RSG) GA Siwabessy which is a research reactor type which has a power of 30MW.

Based on the Letter of Decision of the Head of BATAN Number 329/KA/VIII/2000, there was a change in the organization of PPR – BATAN to become the Center for Development of Radioisotopes and Radiopharmaceuticals (P2RR), with its main activity is for research and development of radioisotopes and radiopharmaceuticals that exist in cyclotron installation facility and the facility for research and development of radioisotopes and radiopharmaceutical in the laboratory of Building 11. Several staff members still have their offices in Building 10, due to inadequacy  of space in Building 11. The asset of Building 10 since September 1996 has been transferred to PT.  BATAN Teknologi (PT BATEK)  (persero).

In its development P2RR  – BATAN was then changed to become the Center for Radioisotopes and Radiopharmaceuticals (PRR) based on the Letter of Decision of the Head of BATAN Number 392/KA/XI/2005 and Regulation of the Head of BATAN Number SK 091/KA/III/2012 which nis one of the units in the National Nuclear Energy Agency (BATAN) which has the duty and function in conducting research, development and empowerment of technology in production of radioisotope and radiopharmaceutical as well as empowerment and development in utilization of the cyclotron operation, management of supporting means as well as quality control and control of work safety.

In the year 2013 with the issuance of the letter of approval of the Minister for Empowerment of the State Apparatus and Bureaucratic Reformation  Number  B/3926/M.PAN-RB/11/2013 regarding the Orderly Arrangement of the Organization and Work Procedures of the National Nuclear Energy Agency  and the Regulation of the Head Number 14 Year 2013, the name of PRR is changed to the Center for Technology of Radioisotope and Radiopharmaceutical which has the duty to conduct formulation  and control of technical policies, implementation, and guidance in the field of technology in the production of radioisotopes, radiopharmaceuticals and management of the cyclotron.

Organization Structure of PTRR

In accordance to the Regulation of the Head of BATAN Number 16 year 2014, regarding organization and work procedures of BATAN, the Center for Technology of Radioisotopes and Radiopharmaceuticals (PTRR) possesses the duty and function as follows:

DUTY

The Center for Technology of Radioisotope and Radiopharmaceutical has the duty to conduct formulation and control of technical policies, implementation, and guidance and fostering in the field of production technology and radioisotope.
