Visitation to Nuclear Facility of BATAN

In order to introduce and increase the understanding regarding nuclear science and technology to all the people, we also are able to receive visitations to the nuclear area. The nuclear area that could be visited is the Pasar Jumat nuclear area, the Serpong Puspiptek nuclear area, the Yogyakarta nuclear area, and the Bandung nuclear area. There, you are able to see directly the activities in research and development of nuclear science and technology which is being conducted by the best children of the nation. The facilities are among others: The GA Siwabessy Multi Purpose Reactor, The Yogyakarta Kartini reactor, The Bandung Triga 2000 Reactor, Irradiator Facility, Electron Beam Machine, Facility in Processing Radioactive Wastes, Fabrication of Reactor Fuel Elements, Radioisotope Production, and many more.

REQUIREMENTS FOR VISITATION

The applicant should be an educational institute/institution/society organization which shall apply a letter of request for visitation formally to the Perasten Building, BATAN Nuclear areas of Pasar Jumat and Serpong.

Age limit of visitor to the Perasten Building : Minimum 7 years of age

Age limit of visitor to the Pasar Jumat and Serpong Nuclear Areas : Minimum 18 years of age

Number of visitors minimum 10 people and maximum 150 people

High school students to wear their school uniforms, for university/equivalent students their Jackets as well as to wear them neatly and politely.

Visitation is received only on Mondays to Thursdays, at 09:00 AM to 14:00 PM.

Letter of request for visitation should be received at least 1(one) week before the date of the visitation by mentioning the number of visitors, date/time, and contact person, and addressed to:

PROCEDURES FOR VISITATION

The visitors shall be obliged to report and show the letter answering the request as well as submitting a copy of the identity of the head of the group to the BATAN nuclear security unit. The visitors shall come to the building determined, submit the list of participants to the receptionist and fill in the guest book in the infromation desk. Visitors shall be guided to the visitor reception room and shall receive explanation regarding matters in connection to the visitation. In the nuclear/laboratory facility, visitors are not allwed to:

Eat, drink and smoke.

Take photographs or video.

Activate communication devices.

Take objects within the area and touching radioactive objects.

Bring sharp weapons, prohibited drugs, alcoholic beverages and objects which endanger the public.

Bring bags except stationery.

Visitors are prohibited to make a commotion, litter and scribble anywhere in the nuclear surrounding area and shall be obliged to uphold order and discipline.

Notation:

Visitors shall not be subjected to any form of payment

Pregnant women are prohibited to visit nuclear facilities
